Sepsi OSK from Romania are aiming to pull off a UEFA Europa Conference League shock against Norway’s Bodo/Glimt.

The Romanians will visit Bodo/Glimt on Thursday in their Conference League second leg after the first match between them finished 2-2.

Sepsi OSK have never qualified for Europe before. In 2021-22 and 2022-23, Sepsi competed in the qualifying rounds of the Conference League, losing in the second qualifying round and third qualifying round respectively.

This season, the Romanians are one step away from group-stage qualification.

Bodo/Glimt reached the quarterfinals of the Conference League in 2021-22. Last season, the Lightning played in the Europa League group stage before falling into the Conference League last-16 playoffs.

The Lightning have been one of the top teams in Norway over the last few seasons and have made waves in Europe.

Bodo/Glimt twice took the lead in the first leg but were pegged back by Sepsi OSK. Faris Pemi Moumbagna scored in the 19th minute to give the Norwegians the lead.

Sepsi came back to tie the game in the 47th minute thanks to an Isnik Alimi penalty. Bodo/Glimt scored on 69 minutes but a second Sepsi penalty, this time scored by Cosmin Matei, levelled the score again. The second leg will be a winner-take-all fixture at Bodo’s Aspmyra Stadio.

Bodo/Glimt did not play at the weekend in the Eliteserien. They are currently level on points with rivals Viking in the race for the Eliteserien title.

Manager Kjetil Knutsen was able to prepare his players over the weekend ahead of the crunch tie with Sepsi OSK. Bodo/Glimt are led in goals by left-wing Amahl Pellegrino, with 16. Moumbagna, who scored in the first leg, has 13 goals.

Knutsen uses an attacking 4-3-3 formation, with Moumbagna as the No. 9 and Pellegrino playing on the left side. The deadly duo should start the match on Thursday. Nino Zugejl is out with a hamstring injury. He is the only player currently listed as injured for Bodo/Glimt.

Sepsi OSK did not play domestically at the weekend either. While Bodo/Glimt have played over the summer domestically in Norway, Sepsi OSK recently started their domestic season in Romania.

Liviu Ciobotariu has no fresh injuries to worry about. Striker Pavol Safranko leads the team with two goals.

Bodo/Glimt are playing at home on Thursday and will have a strong set of supporters behind them. The Lightning should pick up a narrow 1-0 win to advance to the Conference League group stage.
