Ligue 1’s final day of the season will take place on Sunday. Although Paris Saint-Germain have won the league, two teams are fighting for the final Champions League qualification place.
There is still plenty to play for on the final day of the season.
Marseille won their last six matches against Le Havre in all competitions. OM are aiming for a seventh straight win over the Sky Blues on the final day. The reverse fixture saw Marseille romp to a 3-0 win at home.
Le Havre are coming off a 1-0 loss away to Nice in round No. 33. Although they are only three points ahead of 16th-place Metz, Le Havre would have to lose to Marseille and Metz win against PSG to move down to the relegation-playoff place.
In addition, Metz would need to overturn a large goal difference to move ahead of Le Havre on the final day. Although Marseille won their last six games versus Le Havre, the reverse fixture this season was their first meeting since 2012.
Lille are chasing the final Champions League qualification place and have the inside track. On Sunday, Les Dogues will play Nice, the team that pushed Paris for the top spot in the first half of the campaign.
Nice are unbeaten in three straight matches in all competitions against Lille. The clubs drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture. Nice won on their last two trips to Lille in Ligue 1. The Eagles go into the match on a two-game winning streak.
Lille are coming off a 2-1 win over Nantes. They took 12 points from the last six matches. Les Dogues are the league’s joint-best home team, with 36 points from 16 games.
After an awful start to the season that saw Lyon in the bottom three for several weeks, they will finish the season in midtable. The final day will see Les Gones host Strasbourg, who are also safe for another Ligue 1 season.
Strasbourg won the reverse fixture in Ligue 1 by a score of 2-1. The game was played in August during Lyon’s terrible start to the campaign. Strasbourg defeated Metz 2-1 a week ago to end a three-match losing streak.
Lyon are on a three-game winning streak in Ligue 1. They outscored their three opponents 8-5. Lyon won their last two home fixtures, with both games featuring more than 2.5 goals.
Monaco will finish second in the Ligue 1 standings to return to the Champions League next autumn. Nantes, on the other hand, cannot finish any higher than 14th or lower than 15th.
These clubs drew their last two head-to-head meetings, with over 3.5 goals scored in both fixtures. Those games were played at Nantes’ Beaujoire Stadium. Their last meeting at the Stade Louis II ended in a 4-1 Monaco win.
Monaco won their last two Ligue 1 games, defeating Clermont Foot and Montpellier. Nantes are winless in four straight matches. They took just two points across the four fixtures.
