Cardiff City are on a three-game losing streak in the league. Just eight points separate the Bluebirds from the relegation zone. Cardiff took just one point from their last five matches at home.
Rotherham picked up a 1-1 draw against Ipswich earlier this season in the Championship. The draw could ultimately prevent Ipswich from achieving automatic promotion in the league. The Tractor Boys are now fourth in the standings and three points off second place.
A win would put Ipswich third but level on points with second-place Leeds United. Ipswich won their last two league matches, outsourcing their opponents 6-1.
Rotherham are bottom of the table and headed back to League One. The Millers lost their last four Championship games. Rotherham have not won a match away from home this season.
Plymouth and West Brom’s reverse fixture ended nil-nil, with neither side able to get onto the scoresheet. West Brom saw under 2.5 goals in 10 of their last 12 Championship games. Could these teams play another low-scoring fixture?
The Baggies are fifth in the standings and in the mix for the playoffs. West Brom took 10 points from the last 18 points on offer. They scored just nine goals and conceded seven times in the last six fixtures.
Plymouth are 16th in the standings. Five points separate the Pilgrims from the relegation zone. The club failed to pull away from the bottom three in recent weeks, taking one point from the last nine on offer. Plymouth scored just three goals in those three games.
Southampton won 2-1 in their reverse fixture against Hull City. The Saints are rolling in the league and are unbeaten in 23 of their last 24 Championship matches. Southampton are two points off second place and the final automatic promotion place.
Adam Armstrong leads Southampton in goal scoring stats with 16. He has scored 25% of the team’s goals. The forward is just two goals off of league scoring leader Sammie Szmodics. Southampton took 15 of their last 18 points in the Championship.
Hull City, on the other hand, are eighth and in a battle for the playoffs. Only goal difference separates Hull from the top six. A win or draw over Southampton would put Hull into the playoff places. The Tigers are on a two-game winning streak, winning both games 2-1.
